순쉐펑은 칭화대학교 국제관계연구원장 및 교수이자 Chinese Journal of International Politics (CJIP)의 편집장이다. 또한 세계평화포럼 사무차장을 겸임하고 있다. 그의 주요 연구 분야는 국제관계이론, 국제안보, 국제질서, 동아시아 국제관계이며, 영어 및 중국어로 40편 이상의 학술 논문을 발표하였다. 주요 저서로는 The Dilemma of China’s Rise (초판 2011, 2판 2013), Legitimization Strategies and the Rise of Great Powers (2014), East Asian Security Order and China's Neighborhood Policy Transformation (2017), Practical Method of International Studies (초판 2001, 2판 2007, 3판 2021), Security Competition and International Order in the Digital Age (2023) 등이 있다.
