정승철은 제주평화연구원 연구위원으로 미 플로리다 대학교에서 정치학(국제정치) 박사학위를 받았다. 한양대학교 평화연구소 박사후 연구원을 거쳐 제주평화연구원 연구위원으로 재직 중이다. 관심연구분야는 국제정치경제, 동아시아 국제관계, 연구방법론 등이 있다. 주요논문으로는 “Effects of Trade Relations on South Korean Views of China” (Asian Politics & Policy), “Economic Interest or Security Concerns?
