20세기 탈냉전의 분위기 속에서 미국 샌디에고에 소재한 일란라엘재단은 환태평양지역 내 평화소공원 조성운동을 시작했다. 이 사업은 21세기를 이끌어나갈 환태평양지역의 젊은이들이 모여서 소공원의 디자인부터 공사, 준공까지 전 과정을 함께하며 여러 국가의 학생들과 시민들이 함께 어우러져 진정한 평화의 염원을 담는 과정의 프로젝트로 현재까지 총 7개의 소공원이 조성되었다. 각 지역 문화와 다양성을 존중하며 만들어진 공원들은 문화가교의 역할 뿐 아니라 평화증진 네트워크의 기능도 하고 있다.
전세계적으로 갈등과 대립이 첨예하게 이어지고 있는 가운데, 2년여간의 코로나 상황을 이제 엔데믹으로 전환하는 시점에서 환태평양평화소공원 도시협의체는 제주-아세안 플러스 알파정책과 연계하여 무엇을 준비하고 어떤 활동들을 해야할 것인지 논의하고, 궁극적으로는 평화활동들을 어떻게 전개해 나갈지 세계평화를 어떻게 만들어 나갈지 논의해 본다.


In the aftermath of the Cold War in the 20th century, the Ilanlael Foundation, based in San Diego, U.S.A. began a campaign to create a peace park in the Pacific Rim Region.
PRP(Pacific Rim Park) is a project in which young people from the Pacific Rim who will lead the 21st century gather to design, construction, and completion of a small peace parks, and students and citizens from various countries harmonize to express their true wishes for peace. Parks created with respect to each region's culture and diversity serve not only as cultural bridges but also as peace promotion networks.
Amid the conflict and confrontation among countries and the two-year of COVID-19 situation are now turned into an endemic, the Pacific Rim Park City Members discuss what to do prepare and what activities to do, and ultimately how to build world peace by cooperating with Jeju-ASEAN Plus Alpha Policy.
