Understanding North Korea: Politics, Economy, and Society		 Diamond Hall B
Meaningful and objective analysis on North Korea to deal with pressing issues on the Korean Peninsula has been highly emphasized for a long time. Sharing views and gathering experiences of negotiation and engagement with North Korea will be a cornerstone to overcome prejudice and promote objective understanding on North Korea, which will eventually contribute to supporting building peace on the Korean Peninsula.

This session will examine linking contextual intelligence to policy toward North Korea, dynamics of power politics in North Korea and possibility of survival of Kim Jong Un Regime. Speakers will also discuss North Korean Economy and its puzzles and clues, and new cultural trends and new actors in North Korean society.

장기적으로 고착화된 남북관계와 한반도 문제를 해결하기 위해 북한의 현 주소를 사회과학 이론을 통해 객관적으로 조망하고 국내외 저명한 북한 전문가들의 협상과 교류 경험을 공유할 필요성이 제기되어 왔다. 또한, 북한에 대한 세계 각국의 관성적 오해를 극복하고 객관적인 이해 증진을 통해 한반도 평화에 기여하는 방법 모색이 필요한 시점이다.

이 세션에서는 북한에 대한 상황별 정보와 정책의 연계, 김정은 정권의 생존 가능성과 북한의 권력 정치의 역할, 북한 경제의 문제와 해결책 등을 논의할 예정이다. 또한, 북한 사회와 문화의 새로운 트렌드와 행위 주체에 대해 살펴보며 정치, 경제, 사회 전반에 대한 현재와 미래에 대해 토론하고자 한다.
