Biography
After returning from New York as the Indonesian Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the UN, Dr. Dian TRIANSYAH DJANI SE.,MA, served as the Co-Sherpa for the Indonesian G20 Presidency and Special Senior Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia. He was the Chairman of the UN General Assembly Second Committee at the 71st United Nations General Assembly, Vice President of the 72nd UN General Assembly in 2017–2018 and 74th UN General Assembly in 2019–2020. In May 2019 and August 2020, he was President of the United Nations Security Council. Previously, he was Indonesia's Permanent Representative/Ambassador to the UN, WTO, WIPO, WHO, ILO, UNHCR, UNCTAD, WMO, ITU, Disarmament, etc. in Geneva (2009-2012), serving also as the President on Land Mines Treaty, Bassel Convention, UNCTAD Trade and Development Board as well as Vice President of the UN Human Rights Council. In the foreign ministry, he was Director General of ASEAN (2005-2009) and Director General of America-Europe Affairs (2012-2016). As the Drafter of the ASEAN Charter (2008), He is now negotiating the ASEAN Leaders Vision for 2025-2045. He currently holds the position of Chairman of the Board/Senior Advisor of several Banks/financial institutions and lecturer in various universities on diplomacy, economy and negotiations.
