Diplomacy / Security
The pandemic was not merely a public health crisis; it shook the entire international order, impacting diplomacy, security, the economy, and human rights. Issues such as vaccine distribution and border restrictions exposed the limits of international cooperation. Despite the rhetoric of "global solidarity," nationalism prevailed, and vulnerable voices were often silenced. As we continue to grapple with the aftermath, it is time to reflect on what the international community missed during the crisis and what kind of diplomatic sensitivity and solidarity we need moving forward. The theme of the 20th Jeju Forum, "Harnessing Innovation for Peace and Shared Prosperity," invites us to rethink the true meaning of peace. Our team, Pandemocracy, will host a radio-style session where young people from around the world share their pandemic experiences through personal stories, and together, we will uncover the diplomatic contexts behind them. As a generation that lived through an era of crisis, we have the responsibility to shape the future of global health diplomacy. Through this session, we aim to introduce a new way of dialogue that begins with emotion and empathy and leads to diplomatic insight.
