Diplomacy / Security
We are facing a collapsed international order where the logic of power has replaced law and norms, and war has taken the place of diplomacy. The intensifying US-China strategic competition, along with the arms race, is amplifying regional instability. The US is turning its back on diplomacy and using bloc confrontation. While Russia and DPRK have revived their Cold War alliance Japan is pursuing a military power. Peace in East Asia cannot be maintained by military alliances alone; it is time for the six nations of Northeast Asia to strive for a transition to a comprehensive and cooperative peace framework. Moving beyond the limitations of state-centered cooperation, we aim to envision a shared future centered on peace-seeking citizens from each nation. We seek to transcend the existing framework of alliances and confrontation and explore a new East Asian peace paradigm centered on multilateral cooperation and collective security.
