· The Jeju Peace and Human Rights Charter goes beyond the passive acceptance of international norms. It is a participatory charter shaped by the people of Jeju through democratic processes, articulating peace and universal values as future-oriented principles. This session will share this self-driven process and promote the Charter’s spirit domestically and globally.
· It also seeks to move beyond declarative approaches by establishing peace and human rights as practical criteria across the policy cycle—from planning and implementation to evaluation—while exploring innovative governance to ensure effective application in public administration.
· Furthermore, the session proposes a “Jeju-style localization of human rights,” addressing transnational challenges such as climate change, migration, and inequality through local autonomy, while examining institutional tasks and sustainable pathways for Jeju-led human rights governance in a global context.
