Biography
Dr. Wang is one of Korea’s leading journalists on North Korea and diplomatic affairs. Straddling both scholarship and journalism, he is known for informative and well-balanced comments on diplomatic affairs due to the wide range of knowledge and experiences on issues like North Korean nuclear activity, North-South relations, and Korea-U.S. relations. His work emphasizes the importance of the domestic political cycle in the process of foreign policymaking. His interests include a comparison of the two Koreas regarding the traditional culture of the Korean peninsula, the continuity in Confucian approaches to government, and development issues regarding the North Korean regime. He received a Ph.D. from the University of North Korean Studies in Seoul. Wang has been at YTN, a premier terrestrial news network, since 1994. He became a diplomatic correspondent in 2006 after covering diverse issues like domestic politics, diplomatic affairs, law enforcement, and world news stories.
