Biography

Hideaki Ishibashi is a senior staff writer at the Sendai General Bureau of the Asahi newspaper company. He was born in 1964 in Fukuoka and started his work in 1986. Since then, he had acted as a journalist of the social department in the company in Tokyo and Osaka and had also been part of the editorial committee. From 2013, he has been based in Sendai, focusing on the revival of the stricken area by the earthquake that occurred in 2011 in East Japan. In the 1990s, when he spent most of the time in Osaka, he covered the life stories of the Korean-Japanese in Ikuno-ku in the city. Some of the writings reflected his interests in the Jeju 4.3. He also wrote articles on the Korea-Japan relations, including the 2002 World Cup.
