Biography

Tong-Q Lee is a Deputy Director-General of the Climate Change, Energy, Environment, and Scientific Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. For over 20 years, he has served the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, specifically focused on environmental issues. He was a Head of Climate Change and Environment Team, Counselor of the Korean Permanent Mission to the United Nations, and actively involved in SDGs and Rio+20 Negotiation. Before his current position, he served as a Deputy Consul-General of the Korean Consulate General in Hamburg. He became a Deputy Director-General of the Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Scientific Affairs Bureau in 2018 and has actively engaged in a wide spectrum of environmental issues, including the climate change negotiations. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science & Diplomacy at Yonsei University, and his Master’s Degree in International Security at Yonsei Graduate School of Public Administration. He studied Environment and Regulation at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), UK, and Law and Development at the University of Warwick, UK.
