Biography

Dr. Dae Ho Byun is Editor-in-Chief of the "Foreign Relations," the academic & policy journal of the Korean Council on Foreign Relations. He studied at Seoul National University for a B.A. & M.A. in Political Science. He received an M.A. in Political Science from Columbia University and a Ph.D. in International Affairs from the Graduate School of International Studies of the University of Miami, majoring in foreign policies of the socialist countries. He has worked at the European Bureau and the Office of Foreign Policy Planning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, and served at the Korean Embassies in Russia, Sweden, Romania, and Croatia as a senior diplomat. His last position was the Korean Ambassador to Croatia.
After retiring from the Ministry as Ambassador, he worked as Secretary General of Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity and Director-General of the Jeju Peace Institute. He has been teaching political science and international relations as a Visiting Professor in several universities and as Professor Emeritus of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy. He has worked as Vice President of the Korean Association of International Studies. Currently, he is teaching international relations at Incheon National University as an Adjunct Professor.
