Biography

Dr. Wu Shang-su works currently as a research fellow at the Military Studies Programme, S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His research interests include small states, military modernisation, the Taiwan issue, deterrence, nuclear disaster, railway, and international relations. He obtained a master's degree in international relations from the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 2004-7, and a Ph.D in Politics and International Relations in 2008-12 from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
The book and articles he recently published include The Defence Capabilities of Small States: Singapore and Taiwan’s Responses to Strategic Desperation (2016), and “The modern naval fortress: an additional sea denial option for coastal states,” in Defence Studies 2018, “The Development of Vietnam’s Sea Denial Strategy,” in Naval War College Review Winter 2017, “Nuclear disaster in Taiwan: a multidimensional security challenge,” in Global Change, Peace & Security, July 2016, and others.
