Biography
President Choong-Suk Ko is a native of Jeju Island and was born in Wu-do Island in 1950. He graduated from Yeonsei University in 1974 with a degree in Public Administration. He continued with his studies there and obtained his Ph.D. in Public Administration in 1986. He started his teaching career at Jeju National University in 1979 and was elected as the 7th president of Jeju National University in May 2005. He consequently went on to become elected as the 1st president of Jeju National University in September 2014, being widely acknowledged for his administrative and leadership skills. Other than his appointment in these two august positions, he has also made his mark in serving as the president of Jeju Development Institute from September 2001 to April 2004. He has written several books, including “Ie-eo-do Marine Conflict and Chinese Ethnicism” (2013), “Which future should Jeju choose: A Discussion for the Development of Jeju” (2013), as well as “Yugoslavian Laborer’s Autonomic Management System and Organizational Power” (1991). Other than these publications, he has written about 140 articles, essays, and academic theses.
