Dr. Gibung Kwon(58) is Rector and Professor of the Graduate Institute of Peace Studies, Kyung Hee University. He received his Ph D from the University of Pennsylvania, MA from the Pennsylvania State University, and BA from Yonsei University. His research interests are in the theory of interstate relations, global governance, and international justice and ethics. His major English publications include “Theory of War and Just War” (2005), “Politics of Recognition in the State Making and Remaking: A Phenomenological Investigation” (2009), “Hegelian Dialectic of Recognition and its Potential as Alternative Paradigm Theory of International Politics” (2006) and “Phenomenology of Recognition: Hegel’s Original Contribution to the Politics of Recognition in Global Society,” in Political Phenomenology (2016). His recent social interests and activities are in the area of peace, environment, and youth education.
