Biography

Woo-sung Jung is one of the most widely known and liked actors in Korea. After first finding work as a model, Jung made his film debut in the 1994 movie ‘The Fox with Nine Tails.’ In 1997, Jung found widespread fame in Kim Sung-su's film ‘Beat,’ carrying on a successful acting career through movies such as ‘Musa,’ ‘Mutt Boy,’ ‘The Good, the Bad, the Weird,’ ‘The Divine Move,’ ‘The King,’ ‘Asura: The City of Madness,’ ‘Steel Rain’ and several TV dramas. Jung also started his career as a director in 2000, directing music videos for the group god, promotional commercials for cable channel XTM, and short films, including “The Killer behind the Old Man,” which was commissioned by the Hong Kong International Film Festival. In 2016, he produced and starred in the film ‘Remember Me.’
Jung’s support work for UNHCR started in 2014. Since then, he has been actively involved in telling the Korean public about the plight of refugees and displaced persons in various parts of the world, personally visiting and meeting refugees in Nepal, South Sudan, Lebanon, Iraq, and Bangladesh. Jung was officially named Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR in 2015.
