Dr. LEE Sung Hee is a pioneering entrepreneur, aerospace engineer, and space industry leader who has played a significant role in advancing South Korea’s commercial space sector. As Chairman of Contec Spacegroup, he has led the development of globally competitive space infrastructure and services, helping position South Korea as an emerging force in the international space economy.
In 2015, Dr. LEE founded Contec Co., Ltd., which has grown into one of Asia’s leading providers of satellite communication and operational services for customers worldwide. Contec has built strategic partnerships with leading international organizations and companies, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), and KSAT. The company successfully raised approximately USD 58 million in pre-IPO funding and achieved a major milestone with its listing on the KOSDAQ market in November 2023. To further strengthen the Group’s capabilities across the space value chain, Contec acquired APSI in 2023. Since July 2024, Dr. LEE has also led APSI, advancing the integration of satellite systems engineering, space infrastructure, and operational services under the Contec Spacegroup umbrella.
