KIM Sung-hun

Biography

Dr. KIM Sung-hun earned his B.S. and MBA from Seoul National University, followed by an M.S. in Statistics from the University of Texas at Austin and a Ph.D. in Finance from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
During the Asian financial crisis of the late 1990s and early 2000s, he served as an Advisor to the Financial Supervisory Commission and Chief Negotiator for the Sale of Korea First Bank, successfully leading the sale of Korea First Bank to a foreign financial institution. From 1997 to 2006, he also contributed to various Korean central government committees evaluating of government-owned enterprises, government reform, and regional education.
Early in his academic career, Dr. KIM worked as a Research Fellow at the Korea Institute of Finance and as a Professor and Associate Dean at Kyung Hee University. He moved to Cheju Halla University in 2005 and has been leading the institution as its President since 2010.
