Biography
Lyse LANGLOIS is the Executive Director of the International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of AI and Digital Technologies (OBVIA) and a Full Professor in the Department of Industrial Relations at Laval University. Her research focuses primarily on the ethics of artificial intelligence and normativities, the governance and formalization of ethics, and the impacts of AI on the transformation of work and professional practices. Beyond her core expertise in AI, she served for eight years as Director of the Institute of Applied Ethics (IDEA). She is also a regular researcher at the Interuniversity Research Centre on Globalization and Work (CRIMT), as well as the Institute for Intelligence and Data (IID). She has published numerous scientific books, articles, and reports across all these fields. Within this framework, she co-led a 2024 working group for the Quebec Innovation Council, mandated by the provincial government, to develop AI governance recommendations. She also serves on numerous high-level expert committees, including the National Advisory Committee on Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education, the Ministry of Cybersecurity and Digital Affairs of Quebec, and Women4Ethical AI-UNESCO. For the 2025-2026 academic year, she was invited as a Visiting Professor at Korea University’s School of Cybersecurity, collaborating with South Korean academic, private, and governmental organizations.
