- Jeollanam-do Province is leading the nation’s offshore wind power industry.
- The province has secured approximately 21.7 GW in power generation permits, accounting for 62% of the national total.
- Currently, two sites are in commercial operation: "Jeonnam Offshore Wind Farm Phase 1," which was completed last year, and "Yeonggwang Yaksu Offshore Wind Farm."
- The 365 MW "Yeonggwang Nakwol Offshore Wind Farm" is currently under construction, and projects totaling 6.2 GW are scheduled to break ground by 2028.
- Moving forward, Jeollanam-do Province is actively working toward its goals of commencing construction on 21GW of offshore wind farms by 2035 and expanding total development to 30 GW.
- Notably, among the planned development complexes, a total of 7.3 GW will be designated as clustered complexes, including 3.7 GW in Sinan-gun and 3.6 GW in Jindo-gun.
- Furthermore, centered around the Port of Mokpo New Port, the province will strive to build a robust ecosystem encompassing the manufacturing, assembly, installation, and maintenance of offshore wind power equipment in areas such as the Hwawon Industrial Complex in Haenam and the Daebul Industrial Complex in Yeongam.
