Biography
Cheol Hee Park, Ph.D., at Columbia University, is dean and professor at the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) at Seoul National University. At the GSIS, he teaches Japanese politics, Korea-Japan relations, and international relations in East Asia. Before joining the faculty at Seoul National University, he was an assistant professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Japan and the Institute for Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS). He also served as a visiting professor at Columbia University, Keio University, and Kobe University. He is an executive secretary of the Korea-Japan Forum and a member of the Seoul Forum for International Affairs. He is a board member of the East Asia Foundation, the Sejong Institute, andthe Asan Institute for Policy Studies. He is also serving as a policy adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is a columnist at Tokyo Shimbun. He received the First Nakasone Yasuhiro Award in 2005 in recognition of academic activities and practical contribution to the friendly ties between South Korea and Japan.
