Biography
HONG Andy is a healthcare policy expert who majored in Law (Ph.D. in Law) with a specialty in Medical Law. Over the past 16 years, he has served in various department of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI), a specialized research institution under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, in departments such as the Global Healthcare Business Bureau, Bio-Health Innovation Bureau, Planning and Coordination Bureau, and the Korea Medical Holdings, a company affiliated to KHIDI. Throughout his career, he has dedicated his efforts to policy research and initiatives promoting the healthcare and bio-health industries. In particular, he has made significant contributions in aspects such as training bio-health professionals including physicians and scientists, expanding Korea’s medical industry, and attracting international patients. His efforts have been crucial in promoting Korea’s medical brand ‘Medical Korea’ to the global stage, attracting 1.17 million actual patients internationally and thus bringing the cumulative number to over 5.05 million. He is currently working as the Director of the Department of Foreign Patient Attraction in the Global Healthcare Business Bureau while also serving as the Director of the Korean International Medical Association (KIMA).
