MIZUSHIMA Koichi

Biography

Born in June 1961, the Ambassador graduated from the University of Tokyo. After Joining the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985, he performed various positions at Japanese foreign missions in the United States, Ghana and Geneva. He served as Minister as well as Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Korea and most recently as Ambassador of Japan to the State of Israel.

During his career in Japan, Ambassador Mizushima held the positions as Directors of various Ministry divisions/departments including the OECD Division of the Economic Affairs Bureau; the Second North America Division; the Press Division, the Public Diplomacy Department; and the Financial Affairs Division of the Minister’s Secretariat. He then further contributed his faculties as Deputy Press Secretary/Deputy Director-General for Press and Public Diplomacy, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Policy Bureau, and Director-General of the Consular Affairs Bureau.
