Biography

Dr. CHO Sunghun has been an Associate Research Fellow at the Economic Security Team, Department of International Trade, Investment, and Economic Security at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) since 2022. He has conducted research on global industrial policy dynamics, economic security, and industry-specific supply chain issues. In particular, he has proposed strategic response measures for the Korean government in the battery and critical mineral sectors. In 2025, he has been appointed as a member of the policy advisory group for economic security at the Resource Security Council. He has advised strengthening governance systems to manage global uncertainties in the renewable energy sector. His major policy works include "A Strategic Framework for Responding to National Economic Security Policies" (2024, co-authored), "Strategic Approaches to Critical Minerals and Korea-Africa Cooperation" (2024, co-authored), and "Changes in the Global Economic Security Environment and Korea's Response" (2023, co-authored).
