CHUNG Kwang-Yong, Director-General of African and Middle Eastern Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), joined the Ministry in 1997. He has served at the Korean Embassies in Austria, Iraq, Israel, and South Africa, and Korean Consulate General in San Francisco. At the headquarters, he has held several key positions, including Principal Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Director of Education Management Division, Director of Territory and Oceans Division, and Deputy Director-General for African and Middle Eastern Affairs. Since April 2025, he has been serving as Director-General for African and Middle Eastern Affairs. He oversees the bilateral diplomacy between the Republic of Korea and countries in the Middle East and Africa.
