Biography
OH Seong-Ik plays a crucial role in overseeing land acquisition for public purposes in Korea at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport. He also serves as Vice Chair of the Working Party for Rural Policy under the OECD Regional Development Policy Committee. His academic background includes master’s degrees from Harvard Kennedy School and Fletcher School of Tufts University, as well as a Ph.D. from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University.
With a distinguished career in public service, he has held key positions at the Ministry of Ocean and Fisheries, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, and the Presidential Committee for Regional Development. In addition to his governmental duties, he is an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Public Administration at Yonsei University, where he teaches courses on urban life and regional development. OH Seong-Ik is the author of Overseas Energy Investment of Korea and Japan (Palgrave Macmillan, 2023) and Getting Started with Oil and Gas Industry (Maeil Economic Daily Publisher, 2024). He has also contributed an insightful article, A Ticking Time Bomb in the East China Sea, to The National Interest. He has also introduced Korea's smart city policies as a speaker at international smart city events held in Barcelona, Doha, and other locations.
