Biography
Dr. Glen Segell specializes in environmental issues, peace processes, civil-military relations, and strategic communications. He is employed at the University of Haifa that hosts the world-famous Maritime Studies Institute. Following his PhD research at the Department of War Studies, King’s College, University of London, and during the peace process between Israel and Jordan sponsored by the United States that commenced in 1994, Glen Segell was engaged as the principal maritime strategist with the Israeli Navy Flotilla 13 for the creation of the Bi-National Red Sea Marine Peace Park. He subsequently was engaged with implementing the strategy of the project that involved collaboration between the Aqaba Regional Authority (ARA) and the Israel Nature Reserves Authority (NRA), with the participation of the Marine Science Station (MSS) in Jordan and the Interuniversity Institute (IUI) in Israel as research agencies. He was the first to write about the Bi-National Red Sea Marine Peace Park in his seminal book on the topic, that was “The Current Middle East Peace Process”. (London: 1997) ISBN 1901414140.
