Biography
Cae-One Kim is Professor Emeritus, Seoul National University. He graduated from the Law College at Seoul National University(1961) and majored in international trade at Université Libre de Bruxelles(Ph.D, 1969). As a Professor at the Department of Economics of Seoul National University (1970-2004) and Dean of the College of Social Sciences, he taught international economics. He successively served as President of numerous Korean academic associations, including the Korea Economic Association, International Economic Studies, the EU Studies Association, and EUSA Asia-Pacific (2001-04). He was also the founding President(1988-91) and Chairman of Korea Information Strategy Development Institute (1993-98), Korea Monetary Board Member(1991-94), Commissioner of Financial Supervisory Commission(1998-99), and Chairman/CEO of National Research Council for Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences(2008-2011).
He is currently Chairman/CEO of World Economy Research Institute(WERI, 2006-). On his contribution to enhancing Korea-Europe academic exchanges, he was awarded the French Government decoration, Légion d’honneur(1990).
