Biography

Dr. Park, Hyeong-Jung, is a senior research fellow at the Korea Institute for National Unification (KINU). His current positions include: Expert Member of Unification Preparation Committee; Member of ROKorea-FRGermany Joint Advisory Council on Foreign Policy for Unification. His main research covers the politics, economy, and foreign relations of North Korea, inter-Korean relations, and comparative dictatorships. He was an Eisenhower Fellow in 2002 and a visiting fellow at the Center for East Asia Policy Studies at Brookings from 2006 to 2007. He has written a number of books and research papers in Korean and English. His recent policy papers and articles in English include: Identifying Driving Forces for Changes and Policy Challenges on the Korean Peninsula(2015-2030)(2015); “Kim Jong-un’s Renewal of Nuclear Strategy and South Korea Policy since 2012”(2014); “The Purge of Jang Song-taek and the Competition for Regency during the Power Succession”(2013); Fiscal Fragmentation and Economic Changes in North Korea (2013).
