Biography
Prof. Hyung Geun Kim is currently a Professor in the Department of Marine Bioscience, Gangneung-Wonju National University, and President of the Korean Society of Phycology. He received his Ph.D in Marine Biology(1991) from the Pusan National Fisheries University. He also studied as a post-doctor(1995-1996) at the Department of Marine Bioscience, Tokyo Fisheries University at Tokyo, JAPAN, and as a visiting scholar(2004-2005) at the Department of Biology, University of Washington at Seattle, USA. He was the Dean of the College of Life Sciences (2007-2008) and Dean of Academic Affairs (2012~2013) at his university.
Recent studies in his lab have been conducted on physiological ecology and the cultivation of Grateloupia plants in red algae for biomass production.
