
Biography
Seung-a Lee, a native of Jeju, South Korea, born in 1975, has three titles: First of all, she is the youngest member of the Council, secondly, the first district elected member, and lastly, the first female member of the council in the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province district. She served on the Culture, Tourism and Sports Committee in her first two years of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Council. Currently, she is a member of the Welfare and Safety Committee for her remaining two years in office. She is also a representative of 「the Jeju Sports Promotion Forum」, a research group within the council.
Major legislative activities are the enactment of ordinances, such as urban culture, conservation of nature, protection of children, the elderly, and sports human rights. Other activities included the restoration of honor for the victims convicted of the 4·3 incident, and the proposal to hold the South-North Peace Ssireum Competition in Jeju and the call for the restoration of Tamna history and culture. In recognition of her achievements, she won a prize for excellence in the 「National Excellence Ordinance」, and the 「National Excellence Council Work Award」. Although she is a first-term member of the council, she is making her utmost effort as a young and powerful woman who takes care of pending issues in the region and Jeju Island.
