Park, Chan-Sik earned a Ph.D. in modern Korean history from Sogang University and was a research professor at Jeju National University. Park also served as a member of the Jeju 4.3 Committee, a director of the Jeju 4.3 Research Institute, and a director of the Jeju Research Center. Mr. Park mainly studies the history of the Jeju people. Park wrote "The History of 4.3 and Jeju," "The Truth of 4.3," "Research on the Jeju Civil War in 1901," and "The History of the Jeju Democratization Movement."
