Biography
Kazuhisa Nishihara is a Professor of Sociology at Seijo University, and a Professor Emeritus at Nagoya University. His research interests surround phenomenological social theory, glocal studies, and mobility studies from the viewpoint of transnational sociology. He has published many books in these areas, including Sociological Theory of Intersubjectivity: Possibility of Society beyond the Nation-State (Shinsen-sha, 2010), Transnationalism and Social Innovation (Toshin-do, 2016), Introducing Transnationalism: Migrants, Okinawa, and the Nation-State (Shinsen-sha, 2018). He also engaged in translation activities, which included Alfred Schutz’s Collected Papers in Japanese. Recently, while focusing on his research on Okinawan people, he has been examining the vision of the East Asian Community. His latest English paper on this topic was carried on in the Journal of Asian Sociology, 48(1) in Seoul.
