Biography
Hiroyuki Banzai has been a Professor of Law at Waseda University in Tokyo since April 2011, teaching public international law. His previous teaching experience includes Associate Professor at Surugadai University in Saitama and Waseda University. He is now engaged as the Director of the Internal Audit Office of Waseda University. For his academic background, he received a Master of Laws (1998) and a Doctorate of Laws (2015) from Waseda University. He published a book, “Study on Responsibility for Internationally Wrongful Acts,” in 2015, in addition to several articles on international law. His latest article, “Disputes on State Responsibility for the Restoration of a Common Interest in International Law,” appeared in the Journal of International Law and Diplomacy, Vol. 117, No. 1, pp. 25-48 (2018). He was a member of the Wise Persons Group on Japan-EU Relationship: European Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in 2009. He is a member of the Japanese Society of International Law, the Japanese Association of World Law, the International Law Association, Editorial Board of the Korean Journal of International and Comparative Law. He won the Adachi Mineichiro Award in 2016 for his contribution to the academia of international law.
