Kang You-an obtained a master’s degree in cosmetology from Konkuk University and became the first professor of the skin beauty management program opened at Sookmyung Women's University Business School in 2001. She served as a member of the Health and Welfare Ministry's Beauty Industry Competitiveness Committee in 2010 and chairman of the Policy Support TF. For 33 years from 1986, she has built her reputation as an expert covering both the domestic beauty and cosmetics industries. In recognition of these contributions, she also won “the 3rd Korea Peace Prize" in the beauty industry category in 2015. In 2012, she established KBIDI Co., Ltd. which specializes in natural functional cosmetics, moved the company to Jeju in 2013, and has been operating natural mineral research institutes, international certification factories, and turmeric farms to take the lead in globalizing Jeju Red Sea ginseng and green tangerines.
