Biography

Woondo Choi received his B.A. from Yonsei University in 1987 and his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado in 1997. After working as a research professor at Yonsei University, he has been a research fellow at the Northeast Asian History Foundation(NAHF) since 1998. Returning from his research at Nagasaki University, Japan, as a visiting professor, he worked as a Policy Team Director for three years. For the year 2016, he was the Director of the Institute of Japanese Studies at NAHF. In 2018, he was affiliated with the Sigur Center in the Elliot School of George Washington University as a visiting scholar. US-Japan relations, Japan's foreign policy, and territorial disputes are his recent major research interests.
