Biography
Chan Hee LEE has various educational backgrounds. He received a B.A. in public administration from Yeongnam University, Korea, an M.A. in development policy and administration from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, U.S.A, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Hanyang University, Korea. After he passed the Higher Civil Service Examination in 1986, he worked for about 30 years as a government official for the environment. During that period, he served as Director General of Natural Environmental Preservation Bureau, Environmental Policy Bureau, and Metropolitan Environmental Management Office of the Ministry of Environment of Korea. He also worked as a senior program officer of the UNEP Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific from August 2008 to July 2011. He worked as the climate and environment secretary to the President for 2 and a half years from December 2014. Now he has been working at the Research Institute of Green Eco Engineering of Seoul National University since August 2017.
