
Biography
Keumsoon Lee joined the Korea Institute for National Unification in 1994 and has done many research projects on Humanitarian and Human Rights issues on the Korean peninsula. Dr. Lee has interviewed North Korean escapees for her research since the late 1990s. Her major publications and writings are <A Comparative Study of Women in North and South Korea: focusing on Social Roles)>, <National Division and Women in Korea: Women's Approaches to Peaceful Reunification>, <The Impact of International Humanitarian Assistance on North Korea>, <Border Crossing of North Korean People: Implications and Prospects>, <Implications and Tasks of Inter-Korean Humanitarian Cooperation>, and <Humanitarian Cooperation for Resolution of the Separated Families>. She also served as Assistant Minister for Unification Education at the Ministry of Unification from 2015 to 2017. Keumsoon Lee got Ph. D in Political Science from Purdue University in 1993.
