Since the establishment of a dialogue between ASEAN and South Korea in 1989, the two sides have made significant progress, culminating in October 2024 in the elevation of the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. ASEAN, with its abundant natural resources, strategic location and stable labor force, is gaining attention as a key partner of major players in the region that want to hedge risks arising from political instability around the world. This session features perspectives of journalists from ASEAN and South Korea on the bilateral relationship between the two sides, how to further strengthen it and what opportunities lie ahead in today’s rapidly changing geopolitical and economic landscape.
