The Chinese stock market is growing fast. So far, the Chinese market has only been opened to a limited degree, and South Korean businesses are rarely listed on it. From the Chinese perspective, at this point, the supply of capital exceeds the demand for capital. But in the long run, China will surely internationalize its stock market. From the perspective of South Korean businesses, the need to tap Chinese capital is increasing substantially. Also, in order to promote South Korean businesses’ entry into China, which is becoming increasingly common, and furthermore, as a localization strategy, listing in China is a high priority for South Korean businesses. China is clearly pursuing the marketization and globalization of its economy. As a measure to guarantee the entry of foreign firms into the Chinese market, China will allow foreign firms’ listing on the Shanghai Stock Market from the second half of 2011. This session will include discussions that lay the stress on a catalytic role in attracting the attention of businesses and policymakers.
