East Asia is the most dynamic region in the world. Interdependence among the nations in the region is expanding, and the recognition of common interests is enhanced. The importance and leadership of East Asia in a rapidly changing world is growing. In the keynote speeches, leaders of the Asia-Pacific region will present their visions for the future of Asia, Asia’s role in the international community and regional cooperation in Asia. There will be an opportunity to hear about the European experience where regional cooperation has been successfully achieved. The views presented by the leaders will be the basis for discussion in the following World Leaders’ Session.
