The transportation sector is responsible for more than 25% of greenhouse gas emissions globally. Reduction of gas emissions in the transportation sector is very important in that it is possible to do so without negative repercussions, while in other industrial sectors, such a reduction results in a direct increase in cost and a decrease in competitiveness.
Nevertheless, developing countries cannot respond properly due to the lack of necessary skills and financial resources to cope with greenhouse gas reduction and climate change in the transportation sector.
This session will explore the means for international cooperation on effective greenhouse gas reduction in the transportation sector, suitable for developing countries. Experts from Korea, Indonesia, UNESCAP, and ADB will present and exchange their ideas and experiences.
- Moderator
CHUNG, RaeKwon (Director, UNESCAP)
- Presenters & Discussants
JO, Junhaeng (Director, Center for Transport & Climate Change, KOTI)
Elly A. SINAGA (Director, Ministry of Transportation, Republic of Indonesia)
Robert GUILD (Director of Pacific Asia Transport and Energy Division, ADB)
