The LEE Myong-bak administration suggested the vision for unification via three communities in order to move beyond mere management of the division and accomplish peaceful unification.
- The three communities refer to “a peace community, an economic community, and a national community”.

The administration has made various practical efforts to promote the Three Communities Initiative

- Establishing measures to calculate unification costs and to raise funds to help cover the costs
- Strengthening efforts to expand international cooperation
Particularly, as the new G2 structure emerges, close cooperation with China will be needed to achieve peaceful unification through the Three Communities Initiative.
