The climate change in the Republic of Korea is rapidly progressing in a way that the increase of warming
is almost twice as fast as the global average. Climate change has already affected the whole activities of human life both directly and indirectly. For this reason, various methods of mitigation and adaptation to climate change have been approached globally. In the case of Korea, a new renewable energy industry has been developed by constructing wind power systems along the offshore sites. Especially, for Jeju island, the main industry is highly concentrated on tourism which is vulnerable to climate change. So it is significant to improve and develop a new renewable energy industry that is regarded as one of the various methods for adapting to climate change. A regional development model linked to the new renewable energy industry is needed to actively adapt and cope with rapid climate change. New travel products or contents are also required to augment tourism revenue in the context of climate change. Therefore, we are hosting an open discussion on the convergence & integration model between meteorology and energy, meteorology, and tourism to facilitate the development and attain insight into weather-tourism integration.
