Although Asia has emerged as the growth engine for the world economy, its regional peace and security have been under constant threat due to territorial disputes, historic issues, and North Korea’s nuclear tests. Under these circumstances, the so-called “Asian Paradox” can be regarded as the remnants of Asia in the past. In the opening ceremony, the leaders from Asian– Pacific countries are expected to present their visions for “New Asia”, where its growth and prosperity can coexist with peace and prosperity, and the implication of the visions and measures will be further elaborated in the following ‘World Leaders’ Session.
