As much as the Northeast Asian countries of Korea, China, and Japan have recently emerged geopolitically, historical conflicts between them have equally been gaining attention worldwide. Through mutual understanding and cooperation, Northeast Asia must collectively strive to enter an era of peace and prosperity in the 21st century. However, continued historical conflicts have now become obstacles to the search for peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia in the face of heightening tensions in the region as of late. Thus, the purpose of this session is to first identify the essence of such historical conflicts between Northeast Asian nations and to discuss ways to overcome them. Thereafter, the session will also make an attempt to construct an overall view of challenges to achieving historical reconciliation and peace in order to offer an outlook on the region's future.
