Today, the South & East China Sea is a serious conflict area among Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Vietnam in regards to the understanding of the field of conflict. The new United Nations Law of the Sea entered into force in 1994, and it has become the source of conflict. However, the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) among the related countries' border demarcation has not been defined, and this becomes the source of disputes over the man-made island in the sea floor and resource development. In addition, as some of the territorial disputes between China and Japan on surrounding islands have intensified in recent years, and Chinad a new Air Defense Identification Zone, the area has become an explosive warehouse that can shift to armed conflicts. Therefore, this session, which will be the first step to pave the way to common use of the resources in the region, will examine the different claims and ideas of the neighboring countries in the South & East China Sea, and search the measures to overcome the current challenges.
