Despite coordinated efforts for the last two decades, the Great Tumen Initiative (GTI) has been criticized for its lackluster achievements. Facing this type of criticism, GTI has attracted new attention because of the dynamic transitions in East Asia, such as the rise of China, expectations for regime change in North Korea, the possibility of multilateral cooperation in East Asia, and peaceful alternatives for East Asian issues. This session invites specialists from relevant parties, GTI delegates, and specialists from the United States and Japan to evaluate the achievement of the GTI and to discuss the future strategy for multilateral cooperation.
