KANG Chang Il 강창일
	Member of the National Assembly 국회의원, 한일의원연맹 회장 Mr Chang Il Kang is Member of the 20th National Assembly of the Republic of Korea. He is a four-term member(17th-20th) from Jeju City(District Gap) of Jeju Island. He Currently serves as Member of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee. He is also actively working as Chairman of the Korea-Japan Parliamentarians’ Union and Representative Member of the Democracy and Welfare State Research Society. Ever since the people of Jeju city first elected Mr. Kang as their National Assemblyman in 2004, He has actively engaged in congressional diplomacy particularly in the areas of economic and energy. In 2012, he participated and led the Assembly as president of Renewable Energy Research Forum to enhance the importance of renewable energy use worldwide. From 2013 to 2014, he served as Chairman of the Committee on Trade, Industry and Energy. 강창일의원은 1952년 제주 한경면 출생으로 서울대 국사학과와 동경대학 석박사 과정을 마치고 배재대에서 교수로 재직했고 현재 4선 국회의원으로 활발한 의정활동을 펼치고 있다. 불의에 저항하는 기질이 강한 강 의원은 오현고 3학년때 3선 개헌반대 시위를 주도해 정학처분을 받았고 서울대 4학년때 유신헌법을 반대했다는 이유로 민청학련 사건에 연루되어 투옥되어 10년형을 선고받았다. 일본 유학중에 4·3 진상규명운동의 필요성을 알리며 4.3연구소장을 맡아 제주4·3사건을 전 세계에 알리는 계기를 만들었다. ‘사람주의’라는 정치철학을 가지고 정계에 입문한 뒤 과거사와 한일관계의 해원에 많은 노력을 기울였다. 현재도 국회 외교통일위원회 위원이자 한일의원연맹 회장을 맡아 남북관계와 한일문제 해결에 전력을 다하고 있다.
