Seoul Institute is the Think Tank for the Seoul Metropolitan Government. A graduate of Seoul National University, her research area lies in Social changes, Future City, social policy and urban monitoring for enhancing the quality of citizen’s life. Her work focuses on international comparative study on government policy for urban competitiveness. She stayed a year at National Center for Digital Government of the University of Massachusetts Amherst as a visiting scholar and is a member of committee on Administrative Service of Seoul.

변미리박사는 서울시의 씽크탱크인 서울연구원 미래연구센터장으로 일하며, 한국사회학회, 미래학회 이사로 활동 중이다. 서울대에서 학사, 석·박사학위를 받고, 메사추세츠대 앰허스트에서 초빙교수를 지냈다. 주 관심 영역은 도시의 사회구조 변화를 둘러싼 원인과 결과를 분석하는 일로 미래사회 발전전략, 서울시와 세계도시의 삶의 질 비교연구, 서울시민 행복연구, 세대 비교분석 등에 관한 연구를 한다. <포용도시 서울>(2017) <2045 미래서울 만들기>, <메가시티 삶의 질과 서울형 행복지표>(2015), “청년세대의 피안은 어디인가?: 행복, 종교, 세대의 관계성 탐색“ (『서울사회학』, 나남, 2016) 『서울의 인문학』(창작과 비평사, 2016, 공저), 『도시의 잃어버린 시간을 찾아서』(서울연구원, 2016, 공저) 등 다수의 글들을 발표했다.
